One of the great treats in Wellington is to take the Eastbourne ferry across the bay and back, perhaps stopping at Somes Island (Maori name Matiu). The island is run as a nature reserve by local Maori, hence the Welcome Arch that greets you when you land.
Other than that there’s nothing to say about Matui/Somes Island, but here are some photos from the ferry journey. The photos embarrassingly fail to do justice to what is a lovely trip, but here we go…
