Cheltenham Places of Religion

This started as an activity in Summer 2014 to photograph all the churches around the Cheltenham area that have more than one bell in the tower… but that became a different project. This page tries to record every ‘place of religion’ in Cheltenham – which means churches, synagogues, mosques, meeting halls or indeed anywhere that people might think of as religious goes on. Perhaps the furthest stretch is the Masonic Hall or the Circle of Light… but by this point I was determined to include anything I could find.

I’ve included Prestbury, Lechampton, Charlton Kings and – a bit of a stretch – Elmstone Hardwicke; I’ve also included some building that are no longer with us, including St Aidan’s which got flattened fairly soon after I took the photo.
