Rotorua Public Baths (Museum)
Rotorua isn’t a particularly exciting town but it does have a lot of mildly volcanic activity – clouds of smelly steam leaking into the streets everywhere, hot mud pools, that sort of thing. Holiday spa town might sum it up, and it lives up to this with a beautiful public park and a fabulously Bavarian Public Baths. A while ago the Baths became a Museum; most recently, though, it’s all been closed down as an earthquake risk. There’s talk of putting it right, but it doesn’t look hopeful.
