Wellington Museum

Wellington Museum used to be called the Museum of City and Sea. That title was well-intentioned but too hard to remember, so these days it’s just Wellington Museum – though the confusion seems to live on inside. The building itself is marvellous – a huge old Bond Store on the docks and harbour, built like a wooden ship inside and housing a couple of important old room including the Harbour Board Room.

But what do you put inside such a building? The answer – as in the old title – is a mix of some great ‘sea’ stuff alongside a load of stuff that ‘the city’ can’t find a home for.
