I’ve tried to visit Abel Tasman National Park twice during my time in New Zealand, but I’m not sure I’ve ever got there. Although it looks easy on the map, the park itself is very remote and is clearly aimed at determined campers. But you can get near it and experience much the same scenery, beaches, kayaking and water sports at McKee Reserve and Kaiteriteri.
